Tony Benn 1925-2014

left to left: Wilson, Callaghan and Benn
Labour Party Conference, 1971
I just sent an e-mail to a friend...

It is a pity that he never became Prime Minister. The UK would now be a
very different and fair a place. I suffered the regime there from 1980.
By 1985 I had had enough. The rot had well and truly begun. The thick
rich were all on their way to their first million. With full government
backing, the poor got poorer. Money became everything. I left. For the
first time in my life, I stood a chance.

...courage and hope.
